Member News and Information
The mission of the National Association of Crime Victim Compensation Boards is to provide leadership, professional development, and collaborative opportunities to our members to strengthen their capacity to improve services to crime victims and survivors. We share a vision of working together so that every victim compensation program is fully funded, optimally staffed, and functioning effectively to help victims cope with the costs of crime.
Our Members-Only section is open to managers, staff and Board members of government crime victim compensation programs. Contact us if you need assistance logging in.
Our National Conference for our member crime victim compensation programs took place in Portland, Oregon, September 11 -13. Thank you to all who participated, and to our Oregon hosts, who helped make our conference so productive and enjoyable. We appreciate the support provided by the Office for Victims of Crime.
Our current featured issue is "Debt-Collection Delay." Examples of state compensation laws that prevent certain debt-collection activities can be found. Go to the "Featured Issue" flyout under the Members-Only tab to the upper right, once you've logged in.
Update on VOCA Funding: States are applying now for FY 2013 grants. Congress is considering the VOCA cap for next year, but action is unlikely until agreement is reached on either major appropriations bills or on a Continuing Resolution (CR) to hold funding at current levels. The cap on VOCA spending for FY 2013 is $730 million, up $25 million from last year; a CR likely would hold it at the same level in FY 2014.
